This weekend our group of fishing buddies had plans to road trip it up to the Missouri river near Craig to camp out friday night and fish saturday. We got up there late friday night and got a campfire going. I pulled out the camera and tried to take some pictures of the stars. They came out alright but I definitely have some things to learn about night-time shots.
The next morning we got up early and made a quick stop at Headhunters Fly Shop. These guys run a great shop and are always a reliable source of Missouri River info. We got our shuttle and ran up to the Dam to put the boats in. The weather was unbelievable, as the temperature got into the mid-forties with lots of sunshine and little wind…not so easy to come by on the Missouri in winter. The fishing started off a little slow but we soon found fish.
In addition to our usual crew, our friend Chris made his first ever trip to the Missouri with us. Chris is now getting into fly fishing more and more, and this weekend probably fueled a future addiction for him.
The weather is supposed to stay warm for the next week or so, and it sure feels like spring is not far away. Can’t wait to get out this week sometime between classes.
