This past weekend, my friends Cody and Garret had to pass a hunters safety field day to be able to hunt this fall. The only location they could find was near Bozeman, Mt, a 3 hour drive. So we decided to make a weekend fishing trip out of it and hit the road. We got up early and made it to Bozeman. The plan was to drop Cody and Garret off at the range, and I would fish the Gallatin for a couple hours until they were done.
When I got to the Gallatin, it was easy to see fall had arrived earlier here, the leaves were changing into a light yellow already. I had never fished this stretch, but walked downstream and found some nice water. I ended up catching a few fish, and before I knew it it was time to pick the guys up from their class.

We got some gas and hit the road headed for Dillon, Mt, to fish the Beaverhead on Sunday morning. We got onto the river the next morning in hopes of a good day. The Beaverhead is one of my favorite rivers, and we were fortunate enough to hook into a couple really nice fish throughout the day.

It was a fun weekend fishing and traveling across the state with some great friends. We saw some cool country on our way between places and thats one thing that makes road trips so fun. Thanks to Cody and Garret for rowing and great photography.
